Repositioning in the Middle East

BUCHEN and XERVON have been important partners to the industry in the Gulf region for decades. Thanks to a reorganisation, the company's activities are now having an even greater impact

REMONDIS Maintenance & Services Group companies offer a broad portfolio of highly specialised industrial services in the countries bordering the Persian Gulf, just as they do in Europe. In line with the economic structures of the region, services for the oil and gas sector take centre stage, as well as those for the chemicals and petrochemicals industry, the steel industry and other process industry areas.

Our major customers in the Gulf region include companies such as Shell and TotalEnergies, as well as a state-owned oil company.

Comprehensive services on shore and offshore

The service portfolio covers the entire spectrum of the Group's core services – from scaffolding and maintenance to industrial cleaning and surface technology. This also includes services provided offshore, for example on oil platforms. From a regional perspective, the teams are particularly active in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, as well as in Malaysia

The close collaboration between BUCHEN and XERVON on customer projects is also a decisive advantage in the Middle East. That collaboration has now been further enhanced by changes to corporate structures. Both companies are now centrally located in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, in order to be able to network key complementary service areas even more closely, take advantage of synergies and bundle strengths.

Synergies are already showing favourable development

The positive impacts of the reorganisation are already apparent this year. Both BUCHEN and XERVON are currently experiencing high demand in the Gulf region. Contracts with long-standing customers were extended for a further four years, in some cases with extension options of up to ten years. At the same time, numerous new customers were acquired.

The upward trend in the overall economic environment also contributed to this favourable development. Following the slump caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, oil and gas production is picking up again. At the same time, prices have recovered, which is also boosting economic development. In addition, neighbouring countries are striving to further diversify their economies beyond the energy sector. With all these changes, prospects are good for the continued favourable development of activities in the Middle East.

Reactor services on a grand scale

BUCHEN Middle East is currently working on a turnaround project in Qatar for one of the world's largest oil and gas companies - creating real added value for its customers. One of the main tasks during the two-month overhaul is to replace the catalyst material in 18 reactors. From emptying and cleaning the reactors to refilling them, BUCHEN is providing its customers with a comprehensive all-round service they can rely on.

With BUCHEN at their side, customers can count on innovative solutions, maximum efficiency and absolute reliability - a real benefit for the long-term performance of their facilities.

Largest catalytic converter handling project to date

The deployment of 190 highly qualified specialists from 13 nations not only guarantees efficiency but also the highest safety standards. Thanks to its precise planning and execution, BUCHEN minimises potential risks and ensures that the customer benefits from a seamless process. The tight schedule is not only adhered to but also enables the customer to put the refinery back into operation as planned.

The project in Qatar is the BUCHEN Group's largest ever in the challenging field of catalyst handling. From the customer's point of view, the shutdown is also something special. A total of 18,000 internal and external specialists are working on the refinery site during the overhaul. With this scale, the turnaround is the largest project of its kind in the world to date for the energy company.
