From computers to electric vehicles or tools: lithium-ion batteries supply energy to many of the things we use every day. However, these batteries are not entirely harmless, as they are highly flammable and cannot be extinguished. From production and utilisation to disposal: the resulting risks affect the entire life cycle of energy storage systems. RETRON, a member of the REMONDIS Group, has developed a comprehensive system to ensure that lithium-ion batteries are handled safely at all levels. The system includes options for private use, as well as solutions for municipalities, trade and industry.
Lithium-ion storage systems are used in almost every area of the industrial sector. Such power packs are not only installed in products; they are also used in cordless tools or machines during the production process. Preventive fire and explosion safety, as well as safety precautions for employees working with battery-powered devices, have therefore long been an important part of safety concepts.
RETRON supports companies in all industrial sectors with a system solution that allows for higher safety standards and at the same time ensures legal compliance when handling lithium-ion batteries. The company focuses on fireproof, UN-certified safety containers for hazard-free storage and BAM-certified containers for safe transport.
The smallest safety container from RETRON holds 35 litres; the largest is designed for a load of up to 1,000 kilograms.
The container system is complemented by a wide range of services. For example, RETRON analyses company-specific risks related to battery storage and designs custom-tailored safety measures. Practical training courses train customer employees on the proper handling of energy storage systems and provide information on necessary measures in the event of a lithium fire. As a specialist in battery recycling, RETRON also handles the recycling and disposal of used lithium-ion batteries or rechargeable battery-powered devices throughout Germany.
